The invention relates to a bone screw which comprises a shank carrying a screw thread, and a front end and a rear end. The external diameter d or the minor diameter k of the screw thread, in a center area of the shank, tapers from a larger dimension d2 or k2 towards the front end (4) to a smaller dimension d1 or k1, whereby d1 and k1 are unequal zero. The shank is provided with a concentric, radially expandable sleeve. Said sleeve is positioned on the very part of the shank which has the smaller external diameter d1 or k1.
