An apparatus and method for sterile filling includes decontaminating a needle penetrable surface of a device including a needle permeable diaphragm and a sealed chamber in fluid communication with the needle permeable diaphragm. The fill needle penetrates the needle penetrable diaphragm, introduces the material through the fill needle and into the chamber, and eventually exits the diaphragm. A liquid sealant is applied to the penetrated area of the diaphragm.
