PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sterilizing method and a sterilizing apparatus capable of adequately sterilizing the back side of a flange of a cup.
SOLUTION: In the sterilizing method of a cup-like container, the flange 3 of a cup 1 is supported by a circumferential edge of a container insertion hole 17 of a retainer 9, the cup is sterilized by blowing mist of hydrogen peroxide toward inner and outer surfaces of the cup while the retainer supporting the cup travels, and hydrogen peroxide deposited at least on the inner surface of the cup is dried by blowing hot air toward the inner and outer surfaces of the cup. Before the flange of the cup is placed on the circumferential edge of the container insertion hole of the retainer, mist of hydrogen peroxide is blown to the retainer, a film F of hydrogen peroxide is formed at least on the circumferential edge of the container insertion hole of the retainer, and the flange of the cup is placed on the film.
