In one embodiment, the invention provides an ion having the formula: (I) In another embodiment, the invention provides a method for modulating potassium, sodium, and cyclic nucleotide-modulated ion channels in a mammal in need thereof. In a further embodiment, the invention provides a method for modulating ligand-gated ion channels or transient receptor potential channels in a mammal in need thereof.
