PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for detecting a liquid discharge phenomenon with improved accuracy.SOLUTION: An absorbent article 1 is provided with a sensor 8 adapted so as to generate an electric output signal showing wetness of the absorbent article. The electric output signal is received by a processor 17. A method includes the steps of: providing reference data over time showing liquid discharge acquiring liquid discharge data over time in a configuration of the electric output signal analyzing the liquid discharge data over time by using the processor in association with the reference data over time and detecting a liquid discharge phenomenon. Moreover, the system to detect the liquid discharge phenomenon is provided with: an absorbent article provided with a sensor that is arranged so as to generate an output signal showing electrical characteristics and a processor 19 adapted so as to process the output signal generated by the sensor.
