The present invention relates to dilated stents for implantation in internal lumens such as coronary arteries, peripheral arteries or other internal lumens. The present invention provides an intravascular stent having a plurality of cylindrical rings connected by a wavy connection. The stent not only has a high degree of flexibility in the longitudinal direction, but also has adequate vascular wall coverage and sufficient radial strength to keep the artery or other internal lumen in a patency state. This stent is very good because some internal radii of curvature of the peaks and valleys allow the stent to be crimped to the catheter until it has a very thin shape and the radial strength can be increased beyond the prior art stent.
