PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for separating and lifting a raising seedling pot surely separating only a top pot from a plurality of superposed pots and lifting the pot. SOLUTION: This method for separating and lifting a raising seedling pot comprises using the separating and lifting device having two catch members 24b which press from the inside to the outside and catch only two parts separating from each other at 180 degrees of the side wall Pb of the top pot of a plurality of superposed raising seedling pots, and separating and lifting the pot P through catching the side wall Pb of the pot P from the inside with the two catch members 24b so as to transform the shape of the upper opening of the top pot P from square to diamond (or circular to oval).
