Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft die kosmetische Verwendung von Ergothionein zur Steigerung der Zell-Proliferation der Haarfollikelzentren, zur Verringerung der Apoptose von Haarkeratinocyten und zur Verlängerung der Anagenphase. Die Erfindung betrifft weiterhin ein kosmetisches Verfahren, bei dem durch topische Applikation eines Mittels auf der Basis von Ergothionein eine Steigerung der Zell-Proliferation der Haarfollikelzentren, eine Verlängerung der Anagenphase sowie eine Verringerung der Apoptose von Haarkeratinocyten erzielt wird.Use of ergothioneine for promoting keratin synthesis in the hair is claimed.
