The present invention relates to a composition for treating atopic dermatitis comprising hirsutanonol as an active ingredient. Hirsutanonol or oregonin as the active ingredient of the present composition decreases the number of eosinophil increased in atopic dermatitis and regulates expression amounts of immune regulatory cytokines, IL-4, IL-5, IL-10 and IL-13 associated with atopic dermatitis. In addition, hirsutanonol and oregonin increase MBD (mouse beta-defensin)-1, MBD-2 and MBD-3 expression and decrease COX-2 and iNOS expression in mouse animal model of atopic dermatitis. Hirsutanonol and oregonin as the active ingredient of the present composition could be effectively used in drugs, cosmetics and foods for treating atopic dermatitis. 본 발명은 허수타노놀을 유효성분으로 포함하는 아토피성 피부염 개선용 조성물에 관한 것이다. 본 발명 조성물의 유효성분인 허수타노놀 및 오레고닌은 아토피성 피부염에서 증가되는 호산성백혈구(eosinophil)의 수를 감소시키며, 아토피성 피부염의 병변과 관련된 면역 조절 사이토카인 IL-4, 5, 10 및 13의 발현량을 조절하는 효능을 갖는다. 또한, 허수타노놀 및 오레고닌은 아토피성 피부염의 마우스 동물 모델에서 MBD(mouse beta-defensin)-1, 2, 3의 발현을 증가시키며, COX-2 및 iNOS의 발현을 감소시키는 효과를 보인다. 본 발명의 유효성분인 허수타노놀 및 오레고닌은 우수한 아토피성 피부염 개선 및 치료용 약물, 화장품 및 식품으로 개발이 가능하다.
