PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an X-ray diagnostic apparatus and an image processing method capable of generating a composite image on the basis of a nondestructively read-out signal before the end of X-ray irradiation and a destructively read-out signal after the end of X-ray irradiation.SOLUTION: An X-ray diagnostic apparatus includes an X-ray detection unit, a nondestructive read-out unit, a destructive read-out unit, and an image generation unit. The X-ray detection unit includes a plurality of X-ray detection elements. The nondestructive read-out unit nondestructively reads out signals accumulated in the X-ray detection element corresponding to one of a first region and a second region of X-ray imaging regions before the end of X-ray irradiation. The destructive read-out unit destructively reads out signals accumulated in the X-ray detection element corresponding to the other of the first region and the second region after the end of X-ray irradiation.
