Disclosed is a composition comprising nanoparticles comprising docetaxel and a citrate, wherein the stability of the composition is enhanced as compared to that of a composition without the citrate. The composition may additionally comprise a biocompatible polymer such as albumin. The composition is useful for treating cancer, such as prostate cancer, colon cancer, breast cancer, head and neck cancer, pancreatic cancer, lung cancer, and ovarian cancer.
