PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus that suppresses, when some of images are deleted to perform image summarization processing, the occurrence of an attention area that cannot be observed due to the deletion of the images a program and an image processing method.SOLUTION: An image processing apparatus includes: an image sequence acquisition unit 200 that acquires an image sequence having a plurality of images and a processing unit 100 that performs image summarization processing to delete some of the plurality of images of the image sequence acquired by the image sequence acquisition unit 200 to acquire a summary image sequence.
