The present invention relates to an apparatus for recognizing an emotion using a photoplethysmogram (PPG) and a phonocardiogram (PCG) synchronized in different locations and a method thereof, wherein the apparatus comprises: a PPG signal analysis unit configured to analyze two PPG signals acquired in different locations of the body of a user to extract two pieces of PPG signal data and synchronize the two pieces of PPG signal data； a PCG signal analysis unit configured to analyze PCG signals acquired from the chest of the user and extract one piece of PCG signal data； a calculation unit configured to combine the synchronized PPG signal data with the PCG signal data to extract a vascular transits time (VTT), extract an ejection time (ET) from the PCG signal data, and calculate a heart rate, a systolic blood pressure, and a diastolic blood pressure of the user using the VTT and the ET； and a prediction unit configured to classify characteristics of the heart rate, the systolic blood pressure, and the diastolic blood pressure of the user based on a machine learning model to recognize an emotion of the user.
