The present invention relates to a noise reduction assembly for a body stethoscope. One embodiment of the assembly includes a stethoscope device formed of a first material having a proximal end for engagement with the body when the stethoscope device is in the active orientation. An inner damping layer, which may be formed of a second material, is formed along the outer surface of the stent device and covers all of its outer surface except for the proximal end.
