The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition for preventing and treating neurodegenerative disorders including Zingiber mioga extracts and fractions thereof as effective components. More particularly, the Zingiber mioga extracts according to the present invention significantly inhibit and mitigate neurodegenerative disorders by significantly inhibiting and mitigating cognitive impairment, which is induced by scopolamine, and significantly inhibiting the toxicity of acetylcholinesterase and &beta；-amyloid. Therefore, the Zingiber mioga extracts and fractions thereof according to the present invention can be used usefully as the effective components of the pharmaceutical composition for preventing and treating neurodegenerative disorders and a composition for improving cognitive functions.본 발명은 양하(Zingibermioga) 추출물 및 이의 분획물을 유효성분으로 함유하는 퇴행성 뇌질환 예방 및 치료용 약학적 조성물에 관한 것으로, 구체적으로, 본 발명의 양하 추출물은 스코폴라민(scopolamine)으로 유도된 인지장애를 유의적으로 억제 및 개선시키고, 아세틸콜린 분해효소(acetylcolinesterase) 및 베타아밀로이드(β-amyloid) 독성을 유의적으로 억제함으로써, 퇴행성 뇌질환을 유의적으로 억제 및 개선시킨다. 따라서, 본 발명의 양하 추출물 및 이의 분획물은 퇴행성 뇌질환의 예방 및 치료용 약학적 조성물 및 인지기능 개선용 조성물의 유효성분으로 유용하게 사용될 수 있다.
