A solution for monitoring accumulated physical activity is disclosed. A method according to the solution comprises: acquiring target accumulation parameters defining a target total amount of physical activity for a user to accumulate within an observation interval, wherein the amount of physical activity is defined in terms of an attribute measurable during the physical activity； distributing the target accumulation parameters into a plurality of subsets in a time domain such that each subset is associated with a time sub-interval and a target accumulation value, wherein the sum of the sub-intervals equals to the observation interval； and monitoring the physical activity of the user during a sub-interval by comparing a measured accumulation of the physical activity with the target accumulation derived from at least the target accumulation value of the sub-interval and by outputting a progress indicator indicating the measured accumulation of the physical activity with respect to the target accumulation.
