PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To establish IL-11 (interleukin-11) having an added sugar chain and a method for producing the same for aiming at the modification of the IL-11 and to provide a medicinal composition comprising the IL-11.
SOLUTION: The IL-11 is modified by adding the sugar chain. Furthermore, the sugar chain is selected from sugar chains of an N type sugar chain, an O type sugar chain and a combination of N type and O type. A protein composed of an amino acid sequence in which one or several amino acids are deleted, substituted, added or modified, having the IL-11 activity and receiving the addition of the sugar chain is included in the IL-11 for adding the sugar chain in which a signal peptide represented by database is cleaved. In the IL-11, the sugar chain is preferably bound to a site without greatly changing the three-dimensional structure by addition of the sugar chain or in the vicinity of the N-terminal or C-terminal.
