An apparatus is provided for reducing / stabilizing intraocular pressure. The tube extends from an inlet end in fluid communication with the anterior chamber of the eye to direct aqueous humor flow from the anterior chamber to an outlet end in fluid communication with a cavity for receiving aqueous humor defined by the housing. The flow control device is operatively engaged with the housing and configured to control the flow of aqueous humor via a conduit defined by the housing and extending from the cavity to a location away from the anterior chamber. The conduit is responsive to intraocular pressure above the preselected pressure to increase the flow of aqueous humor through the conduit to the drainage site or to reduce resistance to flow, thereby reducing the intraocular pressure to a preselected pressure. It can be expanded to lower it so that it does not exceed it. Related apparatus and methods are also provided.
