A method of insect control by broadcasting frequency sweeping sound waves to cause malfunction of the wing beating system of flying insects is disclosed. The method comprises of determining the frequency range of the wing (2) beats of insects (1) then generating a series of single frequency sound waves covering all the frequency range of the insects wing beats. Single frequency sound waves being low frequency to high frequency are linked to form ascending, descending and random ordered sound series. The sound series are further linked together to form frequency sweeping sound tracks which can be recorded digitally. Broadcasting (Fig. 2) the sound tracks such that the SPL (sound pressure level) of the sound waves reaches a value higher than 2.0 Pa (i.e. 100 dB) is further disclosed.
