An orthotic device for embracing and supporting a body part (e.g., articulation) of a human or animal. The orthotic device is a single sheet of moldable Polylactic Acid (PLA) material configured to maintain the body part in an optimal position for development and treatment. An orthotic system includes the PLA sheet and a protective layer in the form of a single moldable sheet of polyethylene foam (PEF).
