The present invention provides apparatus and method for imaging a subject in a clinical examination. An apparatus of the present invention comprises a plurality of light sources (20) for illuminating a region of interest within the subject, the light sources including a first light source(220) with unpolarized light and a second light source (240) with polarized light a switcher for selectively actuating one of the light sources to illuminate the region of interest a polarizer (30) for directing light reflected by the subject, the polarizer being disposed to enable the directed light to be cross-polarized with the reflected polarized light of the second light source when the second light source is actuated and a light detector(40) for receiving the directed light to image the region of interest. The apparatus can provide different images based on a clinical need in practice.La présente invention concerne un appareil et un procédé dimagerie dun sujet dans le cadre dun examen clinique. Un appareil de la présente invention comprend une pluralité de sources de lumière (20) permettant déclairer une région dintérêt au sein dun sujet, les sources de lumière comprenant une première source lumineuse (220) avec une lumière non polarisée et une seconde source lumineuse (240) avec une lumière polarisée un dispositif daiguillage permettant dactionner sélectivement une des sources lumineuses afin déclairer la région dintérêt un polariseur (30) permettant de diriger la lumière réfléchie par le sujet, le polariseur étant disposé de façon à permettre la polarisation croisée de la lumière dirigée avec la lumière réfléchie de la seconde source lumineuse lorsque la seconde source lumineuse est actionnée et un détecteur de lumière (40) permettant de recevoir la lumière dirigée afin dimager la région dintérêt. Lappareil peut offrir différentes images sur la base dun besoin clinique en pratique.
