A modular/knock-down adjustable bed 10 comprises a frame 20 and at least one adjustable body support section 12, 16, 18 including an adjustable backrest support section 12 pivotally mounted for angular adjustment with respect to the frame. The frame comprises at least two sections； an upper body section 20a on which the back rest is mounted and a separate lower body section 20b. The upper and lower body sections are capable of being joined together to provide a full length adjustable bed. Both the upper and lower body sections may have a fixed support section 14a,14b and a support section which is pivotally mounted for angular adjustment with respect to the frame 12/ 16.
