A further aspect of the disclosure relates to a system for freezing or thawing blood, which comprises an agitator drive a linkage arm operably connected to the agitator drive, the linkage arm configured to translate a rotary motion generated by the agitator drive to an angular reciprocation motion a reciprocating arm operably connected to the linkage arm and a container configured to hold the blood and being operably connected to a distal end of the reciprocating arm.
