A synergistic antimicrobial composition comprising flurochloridone and 3-iodo-2-propynyl-butyl carbamate is provided. Also provided are methods of inhibiting or controlling the growth of microorganisms in building materials by adding such synergistic antimicrobial compositions. Also provided are coating compositions containing such synergistic antibacterial compositions and dry films made from such coating compositions.
