PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an endoscope having a movable lens frame that moves smoothly without adversely affecting a variable power function or a focusing function of an imaging unit arranged fixedly inside.
SOLUTION: The endoscope comprises the imaging unit 36 inserted fittingly into a distal section 12, a fixing member 40 for fixing the imaging unit on the distal section, and at least one notch 76 which is formed on at least one of abutting parts of the distal section and the imaging unit and on a position of point symmetry with the fixing position of the fixing member centering the photographic optical axis of the imaging unit.
