A method for therapeutic management of hyperglycemia in mammals using a composition containing thymohydroquinone is disclosed. More specifically, the present invention discloses a composition containing thymohydroquinone for inhibiting the activity of the enzyme α-glucosidase and increasing cellular entrapment of glucose by mammalian cells.
