The present invention relates to a method of manufacturing customized absorbent hygiene articles, the absorbent hygiene articles comprising an absorbent core (7), a topsheet (8), and a backsheet (9), the method comprising the steps of:a) providing a set of choices designed to allow a consumer to specify the customized absorbent hygiene articleb) receiving a selection from the consumer among the set of choicesc) manufacturing the customized absorbent hygiene article andd) distributing the customized absorbent hygiene article to the consumerwherein the set of choices is selected from the group consisting of:the material specification of the topsheet (8) and/or the backsheet (9)the absorbent capacity, absorbency profile, and/or shape of the absorbent core (7)the material specification and/or design of leg cuffs (25)the material specification and/or design of waist bands or waist elasticsthe material specification and/or design of fastening members (22) or elastic side panelsthe material specification and/or design of a raised barrier for fecal controlselection of a lotion applied to the topsheet (8) or to the leg cuff (25) andcombinations thereof.
