An apparatus for detecting a pupil includes a memory which stores a program for generating pupil information by detecting a pupil region from an image and a processor which generates the information according to the program. The processor detects a reflective light region from the image, detects a pupil boundary of the reflective light region, detects a pupil contour by removing an outlier in the pupil boundary, and generates the pupil information including a radius and a central position of the pupil by applying a crescent filter to the pupil contour.
