The apparatus comprises (a) a frame means adapted in use to be towed by, or attached to the rear of, a tractor, (b) a first row of spaced apart digging tines carried by the frame means, (c) a first row of seeding tines carried by the frame means, each of the seeding tines being aligned with a respective one of the digging tines to the rear of and spaced from the first row of digging tines measured in a direction parallel to the direction of forward motion of the apparatus when in use, (d) a second row of spaced apart digging tines carried by the frame means, none of which are aligned with any of the tines in the first row of digging tines, (e) a second row of seeding tines carried by the frame means, each of which is aligned with a respective one of the tines in the second row of digging tines.
