Provided herein are methods for treating a wound. Such methods include the step of contacting the wound with an effective amount of a BRAF inhibitor. In some aspects, the BRAF inhibitor may be part of a pharmaceutical composition. In such cases, the pharmaceutical composition may comprise an effective amount of a BRAF inhibitor and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier. In some embodiments, the pharmaceutical composition is a topical drug that includes an ointment, cream, gel, hydrogel, or spray. Further, in some embodiments, the BRAF inhibitor or pharmaceutical composition thereof may be part of a wound dressing for use during wound treatment.
