Devices and methods are disclosed for providing and using an ablationcatheter.The catheter may include an expandable member having a plurality ofelectrodes, whereeach electrode is in association with at least one contact sensor and at leastone lightemitting element. Light is emitted in response to the contact of the contactsensor withthe tissue to be ablated. A light sensor disposed centrally to the cathetergathers lightemitted from the light emitting elements and sends a signal to a systemcontroller fordisplay.
