The present disclosure relates to improved methods for efficiently producing late born midbrain, hindbrain or spinal cord cell types from a culture of pluripotent cells, comprising the steps of treating said culture with retinoic acid, hedgehog and modulating the outcome of transforming growth factor beta (Tgfβ) signaling.
