PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air filter capable of exhibiting a high deodorizing effect for a long period of time by utilizing the moisture in the air and the properties of activated carbon fibers. SOLUTION: The air filter 6 is composed of a pre-filter 14 from the upstream side and a filter layer in which a sheet-shaped filter medium is pleated, and the filter layer is a hygroscopic fiber layer 15 and an activated carbon fiber layer from the upstream side. The structure is such that 16, the base material layer 17, and the charged fiber layer 18 are bonded in this order, the base material layer 17 contains a chemisorbent component 23, and the chemisorbent component 23 is an amine-based compound. Therefore, the desired deodorizing effect can be exhibited for a long period of time even with a small amount of support by making maximum use of the adsorption capacity of the activated carbon fiber and the chemisorbent component.
