The invention relates to a method for obtaining isogenic derivatives of any variety of maize, having improved properties, such as resistance to adverse environmental conditions, for example drought and high temperatures, while offering improved growth and grain yield. The method of the invention for obtaining said derivatives of any variety of maize produces an isogenic maize line, i.e. plants that have the same genetic make-up as the original variety, but that are characterised in that they overexpress some genes, in particular associated with osmoprotection, thermotolerance and protection of photosynthetic activity. The invention is particularly characterised in that it offers genetic improvement without incurring the insertion of heterologous DNA (autogenic or isogenic maize) since it comprises the use of a gene from the same plant, which is simply being overexpressed.Se describe un proceso para obtener derivados isogénicos de cualquier variedad de maíz con propiedades mejoradas, tales como ser resistente a condiciones ambientales adversas, como sequía y altas temperaturas, al mismo tiempo que presentan mayor crecimiento y producción de grano. El proceso de la invención para obtener dichos derivados de cualquier variedad de maíz dan como resultado una línea de maíz isogénica, es decir, plantas que contienen la misma constitución genética que la variedad original, pero que se caracterizan porque sobreexpresan algunos genes en particular asociados con osmoprotección, termotolerancia y protección de la actividad fotosintética. La presenete invención tiene como característica sobresaliente el mejoramiento genético sin incurrir en la inserción de DNA heterólogo, (maíz isogénico o autogénico), porque se usa un gen de la misma planta, que sólo se está sobreexpresando.
