Disclosed are spray freeze-dried aripiprazole powder formulations that exhibit improved dispersibility in a homogenous suspension when reconstituted with water. The freeze-dried aripiprazole formulations are obtained by a process comprising the steps of spray-freezing an aripiprazole suspension containing (I) aripiprazole, (II) a vehicle for the aripiprazole, and (III) water for injection, and drying the formulation.
