PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fishing rod allowing an angler to easily sense a strike and hook a fish by small force, and fishing method for hooking the fish using the fishing rod.SOLUTION: A fishing rod A as an example of the fishing rod applying the present invention, includes a butt rod part 1 and a tip part 2. The butt rod part 1 and the tip part 2 are provided on a substantially straight line, and the fishing rod A has a substantially rod-like shape. A grip 10 is provided at a position of the butt rod part 1 near the tip part. The tip part 2 is made of a rigid material and has such strength as to pull in a fish with the weight of 100-200 kg.
