PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a passive safety shielding device for a needle of a needle-based medical device.SOLUTION: A needle shielding device 5 includes: a hub 10 having a longitudinal axis； a needle 14 having a sharp distal tip 16； and a needle shielding assembly attached to the needle and moveable from a non-shielding position to a shielding position. In the shielding position, the sharp distal tip is covered by at least part of the needle shielding assembly.
