The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition for preventing and treating chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, having homoegonol as an active ingredient, and more specifically, to a homoegonol exhibited a reduction effect of neutrophils serving as a mediation factor in the progression of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease in a chronic obstructive pulmonary disease animal model induced with a tobacco extract. Furthermore in the present invention, the number of inflammatory cells in the lung tissue is remarkably reduced by inhibiting the generation of MCP-2 which promotes the migration of inflammatory cells, and TNF-&alpha； which is the inflammatory cytokine. Accordingly, the homoegonol can be usefully used as an active ingredient of the pharmaceutical composition for preventing and treating chronic obstructive pulmonary disease by significantly inhibiting the inflammatory response in the lung tissue through the inhibition of an inflammatory mediator.본 발명은 호모에고놀(homoegonol)을 유효성분으로 함유하는 만성폐쇄성 폐질환의 예방 또는 치료용 약학적 조성물에 관한 것으로, 구체적으로 상기 호모에고놀은 담배추출물로 유도된 만성폐쇄성 폐질환 동물 모델에서 만성폐쇄성 폐질환 진행에 매개 인자로 작용하는 호중구의 감소효과를 나타냈고, 염증세포들의 이동을 촉진하는 MCP-2 및 염증성 사이토카인인 TNF-α의 생성을 억제하여 폐조직 내 염증세포의 수를 현저하게 감소시켰다. 따라서, 호모에고놀은 염증매개체의 억제를 통해 효과적으로 폐조직 내 염증 반응을 유의적으로 억제하므로 만성폐쇄성 폐질환의 예방 및 치료용 약학적 조성물의 유효성분으로써 유용하게 이용할 수 있다.
