A method is provided for monitoring a person in a dwelling. A detection is made of at least one of a persons motion, movement and gesture with a detection device. The detection device includes at least one motion/movement gesture sensing device. Communication is made from the detection device to a user monitoring device including at least two elements selected from: a proximity sensor a temperature sensor/humidity sensor a particulate sensor a light sensor a microphone a speaker two RF transmitters (BLE/ANT+WIFI) a memory card and LEDs.
