PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suitably perform expansion of a blood vessel and indwelling treatment of a stent by applying an optical coherence tomographic imaging using OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography) and OFDI (Optical Frequency-Domain Imaging) to monitor the state of expanding a vascular wall by a balloon and the state of indwelling the stent in the vascular wall.

SOLUTION: In an optical coherence tomographic imaging apparatus, a probe having a transmit/receive part for continuously performing transmission and receiving of light is put in the connecting state, reflected light in a body cavity is obtained from the transmit/receive part, and a face image (or a plurality of sectional images in the axial direction) in the body cavity is generated based on the obtained reflected light. In a mounting position of the balloon expanded by injecting a fluid, the transmit/receive part is scanned to detect the state of expanding the balloon based on the received reflected light by the transmit/receive part or the sectional images obtained based on the reflected light. It is determined whether the pressurization of the balloon is stopped or not based on the detected expanding state of the blood vessel.
