The wound contacting layer includes a biocompatible fibrous matrix that is made of an anionic polymer, and the antimicrobial layer is made of a cationic polymer that is connected to the wound-contacting layer via anionic-cationic interaction between the anionic polymer of the fibrous matrix and the cationic polymer of the antimicrobial layer.
