The method involves determining and analyzing radial diameters (72) of the deployed stent (60) along the axial length of the stent (60) to detect an inadequate expansion using a digital medical image (70) of the deployed stent (60). On detecting the inadequate expansion an appropriate inflation diameter (78) of a balloon catheter (20) for correcting the inadequate expansion is identified.
