This invention relates to a method for preparing an oil-in-water emulsion comprising mometasone furoate, the method comprising a) preparing an aqueous phase by i) dispersing mometasone furoate in a portion of a mixture of propylene glycol and water, ii) mixing the remaining parts of propylene glycol and water, iii) heating the mixture from step ii) to about 65°C together with sodium citrate and citric acid, iv) adding the dispersion from step i) to the resulting mixture from step iii), b) preparing an oil phase by v) mixing ingredients of the oil phase, and vi) heating the mixture resulting from v) to about 70°C, c) adding the oil phase to the aqueous phase by mixing, d) homogenizing the mixture from c), and e) cooling the emulsion obtained from d) during stirring.
