A method of blending valerian oil with other essential oils plus water and a dispersing agent, using a diffuser to provide slow release of the composition properties into the environment for the purpose of helping to relieve stress and its associated symptoms in humans and other mammals. Preferably the composition contains valerian, vetivert, sweet basil and sage oils. The preferred dispersing agent is 3-methyl-3-methoxybutyl acetate (CAS RN 03429-90-9). Preferred diffusers are plug-in and reed diffusers.
