A stent may generally comprise a plurality of longitudinal elements each extending over most of the length of the stent and each having alternating flexible and rigid segments. The stent may comprise nodes positioned on the longitudinal elements between the flexible and rigid segments and interconnection members extending in the circumferential direction and connecting adjacent longitudinal elements at the nodes. The longitudinal elements may have waveform patterns. The interconnection members have a branched structure which connects a peak of one longitudinal element to a trough of an adjacent longitudinal element.
