PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an endoscope which enhances expandability by making adaptation to accessory members of a various specifications possible, and which can achieve reduction in diameter.SOLUTION: An endoscope includes: a substantially cylindrical optical member holder 16 for accommodating an optical element 15 which allows incident light to form an image, and supporting a rectangular imaging element 17 including an imaging surface on which the incident light forms an image and a cover member 18 in which the optical member holder 16 is inserted in an optical axis direction of the optical element 15, and which covers at least one part of the optical member holder 16 and the imaging element 17.
