The present invention is concerned with a hair removal device having a light emission unit having a substrate and a plurality of first LED dies that are mounted on the substrate on an area of at least 0.2 cm 2, in particular of at least 1 cm 2, the first LED dies having a peak emission wavelength in the far red or infrared wavelength range of between 700 nm and 980 nm, wherein the hair removal device is arranged to emit a treatment light pulse having a pulse length in the range of between 60 ms and 120 ms and the first LED dies have a radiant flux such that a radiant fluence on the skin of a user in the range of between 3 J/cm 2 and 7 J/cm 2 is achieved by application of the treatment light pulse.La présente invention concerne un dispositif d'épilation comprenant une unité d'émission de lumière comportant un substrat et une pluralité de premières puces de DEL qui sont montées sur le substrat sur une surface d'au moins 0,2 cm2, en particulier d'au moins 1 cm2, les premières puces de DEL ayant une longueur d'onde maximale d'émission dans le domaine rouge lointain ou infrarouge comprise entre 700 nm et 980 nm, le dispositif d'épilation étant conçu pour émettre une impulsion lumineuse de traitement ayant une longueur d'impulsion dans la plage comprise entre 60 ms et 120 ms et les premières puces de LED possédant un flux énergétique de sorte qu'une fluence de rayonnement sur la peau d'un utilisateur dans la plage comprise entre 3 J/cm2 et 7 J/cm2 soit obtenue par l'application de l'impulsion lumineuse de traitement.
