PURPOSE: A composition containing Ailanthus altissima peel extract and pharmacologically acceptable carriers is provided to induce brain cancer cell apoptosis and to be applied to various pharmaceutical formulations. CONSTITUTION: A composition for treating brain cancer contains Ailanthus altissima peel extract which is prepared by dipping pulverized Ailanthus altissima peel in an aliphatic polar solvent as an active ingredient. The survival rate of U-87 MG cell line after treating 8.0 x10^3 of U-87 MG cell line in 100 ug/ml of an extract solution for 48 hours is 30% or less. The aliphatic polar solvent is alcohol of 1-5 carbon atoms.본 발명은 건조된 저근백피(樗根白皮, CEDRELA SINENSIS JUSS) 분쇄물로부터 지방족 극성 용매를 이용하여 추출되고 유효성분인 저근백피 추출물 및 약리학적으로 허용 가능한 담체들을 포함하는 뇌암 치료용 조성물을 제공한다. 상기 저근백피 추출물은 미량만으로도 뇌암 관련 세포의 사멸 및 증식 억제를 유도할 수 있어 다양한 약학적 제형에 폭 넓게 적용될 수 있다.
