PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for adaptive dynamic quadrature demodulation are provided to reduce the energy loss of a signal during a quadrature demodulation process by accurately converting a biased signal component into a base band signal. CONSTITUTION: A frequency estimation unit(110) estimates changes in the center frequency of a received ultrasound signal according to the propagation depth. A dynamic quadrature demodulation unit(120) implements dynamic quadrature demodulation using the estimated changes. A dynamic filter(130) determines the specification of a filter from the center frequency estimated by the frequency estimation unit, where the specification includes a cut-off frequency of a low-pass filter.본 발명은 적응적 직각 복조 장치에 관한 것으로서, 수신된 초음파 신호를 동상 성분과 직각 성분으로 분리하는 직각 복조부, 동상 성분과 직각 성분을 자기회귀 모델에의 입력으로 이용하여 중심 주파수를 추정하는 주파수 추정부, 및 추정된 중심 주파수를 이용하여 바이어스되어 있는 동상 성분과 직각 성분의 주파수를 보상하는 주파수 보상부를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하며, 초음파 영상의 신호 대 잡음 비, 해상도, 및 대조도를 높일 수 있다.
