The present utility model relates to a photobioreactor system for producing biomass comprising of a first growth chamber with open top, a detachable cover, a second chamber attached to the bottom of the first chamber having a light source contained therein, a pump system and a microbial solution placed inside the first chamber, and an aerator, wherein the detachable top uses a pyramidal design. The microbial solution is comprised of nutrient medium and microalgae, specifically, Chlorella vulgaris. Its advantages over the previous photobioreactors are the optimized production of biomass by using a pyramidal design and use of inexpensive materials that can be used in a household setting.
